Sharon Newman has been an educator for 39 years. She has had the privilege of spending the last nine years at The Buckner Fanning School at Mission Springs (BFSMS). Sharon is a native Texan, and she has lived in San Antonio since graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 1981, with a BS in Elementary Education. Sharon holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a certification in Educational Leadership. She spent twenty-four years as a teacher and administrator in North East ISD.
Sharon has two children and they are both attorneys. Her daughter lives in Austin and her son lives in New York City. Four years ago, her husband passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. She has learned a lot on her journey of grief, but with God’s abundant grace and the love of her friends and family she has emerged as a better, stronger and happier person.
Sharon loves to travel, hike, enjoy long weekends on Lake LBJ, and spend time with friends, family and her golden doodle, Miss Beasley. She considers it a privilege and a blessing to surround herself each day with precious children, a dedicated staff, and supportive parents. She is most thankful for the opportunity to work in a school that focuses on rigorous academics in a Christian environment. She is an advocate for all children and she works to ensure that all decisions at BFSMS are made based on what is best for them, Sharon believes the best is yet to come for everyone at BFSMS.
