Hello, I am Sharon Newman and I have been an educator for 38 years. I have spent the last seven years at The Buckner Fanning School at Mission Springs (BFSMS). I am a native Texan, and I have lived in San Antonio since graduating from the University of Texas at Austin in 1981, with a BS in Elementary Education. I also hold a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and a certification in Educational Leadership.
I have two children and they are both attorneys. My daughter lives in Austin and my son lives in New York City. Two years ago, my husband passed away suddenly and unexpectedly. I have learned a lot on this journey of grief, but with God’s abundant grace and the love of my friends and family I have emerged as a better, stronger and happier person.
I love to travel, hike, and spend time with my friends and family. The last two summers I had the incredible opportunity to hike the Camino de Santiago in Spain. I have walked both the French and Portuguese path and both of those journeys blessed my life in a way that is life changing.
I consider it a privilege and a blessing to surround myself each day with precious children, a dedicated staff, and supportive parents. I am most thankful for the opportunity to work in a school that focuses on rigorous academics in a Christian environment. I hope the best is yet to come for all of us at BFSMS.
