I am excited about starting my fifth year of teaching the Gifted and Talented program at The Buckner Fanning School at Mission Springs. Time has gone by so quickly! I’ve had the pleasure of teaching so many wonderful students at this school.
I grew up in New Braunfels and graduated from Texas State University. Prior to coming to BFSMS, I taught 27 years in NEISD with the last 17 years spent teaching Gifted and Talented classes. I’ve taught all grades from Kinder through 8th Grade.
My goal as a GT teacher is to provide a risk-free environment where students are encouraged to challenge themselves, become thinkers, and experience the joy of life-long learning. My motto I share with my students is "In GT class, we don't do easy. We make easy happen through hard work and understanding." We talk about having a Growth Mindset where there are no limits to what we can achieve and accomplish.
I'm married to my wonderful husband, Jim. We have two grown children and one granddaughter, Lily. We also are the doting parents of three rescue dogs.....Aria, Blackie, and Jewels.
I love being active and busy. I am a member of the San Antonio Road Runners and my husband and I are currently training to run the San Antonio Rock & Roll Half Marathon in December. I am a pace leader for the training program and have enjoyed meeting and leading so many eager runners. I also enjoy traveling, hiking, book club, dinner club, and spending time with family and friends.
